LIMA, PERU (NWPR) – In the bustling land called America, there was a nation full of farmers and ranchers whose fields stretched as far as the eye could see, and whose barns brimmed with the bounty of the earth. These hardworking folks grew the most delicious fruits, vegetables, grains, and raised animals that provided nourishment and joy to millions around the world.
But like any grand story, there were challenges. One of them was a giant named Peru, a vibrant country in South America, full of rich culture and bustling markets. For years, America and Peru traded goods back and forth—America sent its agricultural treasures, and Peru sent back its colorful textiles, minerals, and more. Yet, despite the friendship and trade, there was an imbalance—America was sending more than it was receiving, creating a gap called the trade deficit.
One day, a wise leader named Daniel Whitley, who looked after the treasures of American agriculture, decided it was time for a new adventure. He gathered a brave delegation of over 50 farmers, ranchers, and trade experts, all eager to strengthen their bonds with Peru and grow their shared prosperity.
“I am honored to lead this delegation to Lima as we work to strengthen vital connections, grow U.S. agricultural exports and showcase the broad array of products American agriculture has to offer,” said Whitley.
Their mission was clear: to explore new opportunities, showcase the wonderful variety of American farm products—juicy beef, fresh pork, flavorful poultry, creamy dairy, crunchy tree nuts, and even whiskey and wine—and find new friends eager to buy more of what America had to offer. They aimed to build bridges of trust and create new pathways for exports, helping American farmers thrive and the economy grow stronger.
As the delegation traveled to Lima, the heart of Peru, they marveled at the bustling ports, the efficient cold chains, and the eager markets waiting to taste the best of America’s harvest. They knew that with teamwork and innovation, they could turn the page to a new chapter—one filled with shared success, job creation, and stronger economic ties.
And so, with enthusiasm and dedication, this brave venture set forth to boost American agriculture, deepen international friendships, and ensure that the story of growth and prosperity continues to flourish—showing the world that when neighbors work together, everyone can enjoy a harvest of abundance.
And they all believed that the seeds planted today would grow into a future where trade, friendship, and prosperity thrived for generations to come.
About
Peru is the fourth-largest market for U.S. agricultural exports in South America and the U.S. is Peru’s second-largest agricultural supplier. Despite bilateral agricultural trade growing by 263% since 2009 to $5.3 billion, the $3.66 billion agricultural trade deficit persists. This mission aims to build on this growth, bridge the gap, and increase U.S. exports. Peru and its South American trade partners offer robust logistics, distribution, processing and cold chain capabilities, creating opportunities for exporters across industry sectors. Export prospects in Peru are strong, especially in beef, pork, poultry, dairy products, tree nuts, ethanol, wine and distilled spirits, as well as dog and cat food.
